Altered ImagesAltered Images were a New Wave Band, from Glasgow, formed in the early 1980s.

Formation

They were all ex-school friends who shared an interest in the post punk scene, Clare Grogan (vocals), Caesar (guitar), Michael Anderson (drums), Tony McDaid (guitar) and Johnny McElhone (bass guitar).

Their biggest hit to date was Happy Birthday which reached number 2 in the UK top 40 in 1981, also later that year they won 'Best New Group' at the NME Awards.

Breakup

After the break up of the band, Clare Grogan attempted a solo career, signing to London Records and releasing a single and recording an album in 1987 called Love Bomb, which was never released. She was successful in television, starring in shows such as Red Dwarf, EastEnders, and Father Ted.

Trivia
At the (then) Glasgow College of Technology Student Union, Clare got glassed when she was performing with the group. If you look closely you can still see the scar on her face. Clare also attended Notre Dame Secondary in Glasgow
