History

The park was first gifted to the city in 1887 but before this in the Iron Age, the area was home to the Damnonii tribe and archaelogical remains have been found from this time. The parkwas extended west in the 1940's when land was aquired from the Castlemilk Estate.

Facilities

The park does not have any formalised facilities however it contains ancient woodland shown in military mapsfrom the 1750's that provide a suitablehabitat for many species and has a path network. There are also open spaces that are used for flying kites and model aircrafy clubs. It is also possible to ride horses in the park.
