History

The park was acquired in 1892 for £35,000 and derives its name from Ruchill Estate, the estate house being situated a small distance to the north the park. At the time it was purchased there was a large working class population who resided in the tenemental properties of the North/North West of Glasgow, which had no gardens and the park provided an open space for leisure and recreation.

Facilities

The park provides a good viewpoint over the city and commands view to the south and north and into the Partick Thistle Football Club ground as Firhill Park. The park has jogging and orienteering courses as well as play areas and provides a conservation habitat within the city.
