The Blue Nile is a pop band from Glasgow. Their music was built mainly on synthesizers and electronic instruments, although later works have featured acoustic guitar more prominently.
The line up was Robert Bell, Paul Buchanan and Paul Joseph Moore
HistoryThe band was formed when friends Paul Buchanan and Paul Joseph Moore met Robert Bell shortly after graduating from the University of Glasgow. Previously Robert and Paul were the key members of the band 'Night by Night' who had a small but enthusiastic following, their mutual friendship grew out of a shared interest in music, and they began writing and recording together. They formed their own label, Peppermint Records, on which they released their first single, "I Love This Life".
In 1984 the band saw greater exposure across Europe with the videos for their two singles "Stay" and "Tinseltown in the Rain" video channel Music Box.
