Working on the railway
Apr 29 2010, 1:45 PM EDT
I worked on the Glasgow railway between 1979 - 1984, including some time at Glasgow central station. During that time, I saw the changes taking place on the station concourse and the introduction of the "new" 'O-M-O' (one man operated) trains. At the time that was a serious safety concern to the train operating staff, and it still is. Some would argue that the train derailments/ train crashes which occurred after that time could have been prevented. We may never know for sure. Does anyone else have tales to relate from around that time? Do you find this valuable?
